Description
My time Deities, rulers of the temporal dimension, designed for my forthcoming game titled "Time Oracle", a divination card game created to teach you how see through time. I pulled influence from Native lore (native american, as well as mesoamerican) and some Japanese influence.
ahh yes, the lore itself is completely fictional- I've been creating my own mythos in a way. This is a total mashup of tons of different ideas from different cultures! Let me see if I can explain it accurately lol!
So, since im South American and Caribbean, i tend look a lot to into native roots to pull for my influences. For this particular piece I took elements from Nahuatl culture, Navajo, North American folklore, some Zoocryptids (in the jackalope and the multi-eyedness) and even Japanese lore, as seen in the design of the Raven. Funnily enough I also pulled from Neon Genesis Evangelion for the design and look or Hamaskas, and as you know, NG:E was influenced by christian myth as well.
There is also lots of Witchcraft and Pagan influence here, especially with the concept of "Familiars" or animals that accompanied witches and wizards as part of their lifestyle. I added a couple of Kabbalistic elements here and there, such as the tree of life behind The Jackalope, and some astrology as well, as seen in the symbolism behind each animal.
There are even some African elements scattered, but the most prominent one is the symbol behind Bisonte, which is the a Voodoo symbol (ROUGHLY) for Papa Legba, an orisha patron who is the intermediary between the Loa and Humanity. He is the patron of comunication between the spirits and men,
Still, i wanted to keep the animals slighly American so that they are familiar to my audience, which is mostly North and south american.
